Het Paardje - Bar&Bistro

This is one of those easy-going spots that locals love and visitors are happy to stumble across. Worth a visit, whether you're starting your night or winding it down.

 Het Paardje is located right on Gerard Douplein street and has one of the biggest and sunniest terraces in the area. This bar is perfect for catching up with friends over a drink or simply enjoying the spring weather in the patio. The crowd is a fun mix—locals, young people, and longtime regulars all seem to feel at home here.

Inside, the vibe is stylish but not pretentious. It’s a modern take on a classic Dutch brown café, with chic details like silver walls, flowers in every table, and a black-and-white U-shaped bar.

The food is good and has a French-bistro inspiration, with dishes like oysters, escargots, and hearty hot mains. Whether you're there for lunch, dinner, or just a drink and some snacks, everything on their menu looks amazing.

This time we went for the traditional cheese platter with raw sausage, suggestion of the friendly staff who works there. She was absolutely right about it. This is a must!

They have an amazing selection of beer and local cheeses. I highly recommend the visit.
