This street market is Netherlands is the biggest one in Europe and is absolutely worth to visit. The food alone makes the trip worth it. There you can get all the Dutch classics: crispy kibbeling with a tangy garlic sauce, fluffy poffertjes with powdered sugar on top, warm, stroopwafels made right in front of you, and for the brave, raw herring (nieuwe haring) with onions and pickles on top.

There are wheels of Dutch cheese all over the place, from creamy young Gouda to aged, nutty flavoured kinds and everything in between.

amazing cheese.

Don't miss out snacks like frikandel and bitterballen. If you want something sweet, try some speculaas cookies, which have just the right amount of spice, or a slice of traditional Dutch appeltaart. Dutch licorice (drop) is a local favourite, but it takes some getting used to. Of course, there are also pannenkoeken, which are thin Dutch pancakes with sweet or savoury toppings that mix the flavours of a meal and a dessert.

During the colder months, the market sells seasonal foods like oliebollen, which are Dutch doughnuts that are very addictive, and erwtensoep, which is Dutch pea soup. But there is a lot to explore in every season.

This time I went to see the tulips at Keukenhof so gladly the stalls all over the city were full of freshly cut tulips in every colour you could think of. The smell of flowers, the warmth of food, and the noise of Amsterdam all around me as I walked through the market made it a whole new experience.

If this is your first time in the city, I highly recommend a visit. this market has more to offer than food; it's a taste of Dutch culture, with lots of character, flavour, and charm.
